Now that the weather is getting warmer, party season is going into full swing. If you have children who are still in elementary school, it can often seem as if there is a different birthday party every weekend.
So when it’s your turn to host a birthday party for your child, you want to make it memorable and unique so that it can stand out from all the others. Here, then, are five simple things you can do to make your next party one everybody will remember:
1. Go Against Tradition
People expect certain things at children’s birthday parties: Birthday cakes, candy treats, traditional games such as “Pin the Tail on the Donkey”. Make your next party different by putting your own special twist on these birthday party tropes.
For example, you can serve different flavored cupcakes rather than one single birthday cake in order to give your guests a choice. Or offer healthy alternatives to sugary “goodie bags”, such as fun items from the dollar store or healthy snacks for your guests to take home.
2. Rent a Bounce House
A bounce house improves any party. Kids will love it, and parents’ will, too. That’s because it provides a safe and healthy environment for kids to burn off excess energy while being contained in one space where they can be supervised more easily.
3. Hire an Entertainer
A clown, magician or the mascot from your local sports team can be a thrilling and memorable addition to your next birthday party.
4. Make it a Family Affair
Rather than hosting a strictly kiddie party, why not invite their families as well for a backyard cookout. Or go all out and block of the street for a traditional summertime block party!
5. Take the Fun on the Road
Host your party at your area’s amusement park, zoo or other family fun destination. Most places now offer party packages that include food, beverages, and sometimes even souvenirs. Plus, you don’t have to clean up afterward!
